Roving Referees

A roving referee is an accredited referee who oversees several or all the matches in one venue or room and is responsible for the correct interpretation of the rules by the players who are acting as referees for each match, when called upon to do so.

A Roving Referee is typically used during Pennant Semi Finals and Tournaments. Team Captains are urged to familiarise themselves with the responsibilities of the Roving Referee.

New Board Members

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Heather Zappia, Alexandra Octavia & Katherine Newman as newly appointed members of the board.

Heather and Katherine have a long history in the game and bring a wealth of experience and unwavering passion as players and advocates for many years.

Coupled with that experience we are also pleased to welcome a newcomer to the sport, Alexandra. Alexandra recently started in the sport and invests many hours of dedication practicing at the RACV club and actively reaches out to many in our community in her quest to improve her skills and get to know the community.

Their dedication and enthusiasm are a testament to the strength of our community. It's inspiring to see such active involvement from our members in supporting the future of our sport and inspiring to see the diversity of experience which also ensures we meet government diversity requirements.

We are excited to work alongside these dedicated and motivated individuals and look forward to the great contributions they will bring.

2024 Victorian 150 Up Billiards Championship

This year’s 150-up Billiards has been a resounding success !

Results also attached...

Rod Nelson (winner for 2022 & 2023) provided a sterling defence of his Title with courageous wins in the QF and SF.

The Final produced an epic confrontation, with Rod forcing Steve Mifsud to produce his very best to be able to earn the Champion’s Title.

Saturday had a large number of timed matches, and the 4 people who worked so hard to be in the QFs on Sunday deserve congratulations.

John Schenck and David Collins were both able to win their QFs - over David Cosgriff (3-2) and Simon Scerri (3-1) respectively.

Graeme Wright and Glynn McConnell had both done themselves proud by overcoming more highly ranked players, and certainly showed their improved standing in Victorian Billiards by performing creditably, in their QFs against the 2 top Seeds.

In one SF, Steve Mifsud had to produce breaks of 49, 94 unfinished, and 101 to overcome David Collins (3-0).

The 2nd SF was a titanic struggle with Rod Nelson having to produce breaks of 62, 41, 46 & 83 to triumph 3-2 against John Schenck (67, 43, 72 & 48)! Both players performed brilliantly!

In the Final, the score line had Steve winning 3-0, but this does not reflect the closeness of the contest.

Steve made a break of 122 unfinished to “steal” the 1st game 150-27. In the 2nd, Steve needed a break of 111 to triumph 150-77.

In the 3rd game, Rod had scored 2 points and followed shortly with a break of 46. Soon after Steve produced a break of 52 to lead 52-48.

With the next opening, Steve provided a break of 61, to which Rod immediately replied with a 65, and the Scores were tied at 113-113!

Steve made 21 - Rod made 13 - and Steve was able to make the last 16 points to win 150-126!

The Sunday spectators were rapt to have witnessed such strenuously fought contests throughout the day.

Thank you to all the competitors, and Larry Eforgan’s incredibly hard-working Referees. The players performed their Refereeing duties with great cooperation and willingness. Our thanks also to the Yarraville Club BilliardsSnookerclub for their wonderful facility which was a perfect platform to showcase the fantastic skills of our Victorian competitors.
