Clubs which have competed over the years include the Australian Club (1991-), the Athenaeum Club (1990-), the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club (2016-), the Kelvin Club (1990-1991, 2023-), the Melbourne Club (1990-), the Melbourne Savage Club (2016-), the Naval & Military Club (1991-2008, as RACV Warriors 2009-), the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (1990-), and the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club (1995-). Bill Browning donated the perpetual trophy, modestly engraved 'Donated by Melbourne Club players'. Following Bill's death the trophy was renamed the J.R. Browning trophy. |
